Best AI connector platforms for small businesses

Four platforms that plug your existing business tools into an AI assistant — what each is best at, and the buying rule that comes from an operator who abandoned one in two weeks.

Best AI connector platforms for small businesses

Read the buying rule before the vendor list, because it will save you a subscription. Neville Medhora, who runs Copywriting Course and Swipe File, connected his email platform — roughly 100,000 tagged subscribers of genuinely valuable data — to an AI assistant and stopped using it inside two weeks. Not because it failed. Because clicking the existing report was faster.

The rule: before connecting a tool, write down the question you want answered that the tool's own dashboard cannot answer today. If you cannot name one, the connector will lose to the interface you already have.

His underlying ask is still real: "I just want more connectors. So if you have a piece of software, connect it, let me connect it into my AI easily, to where it's just always available." These four are the platforms that address it. Not ranked, not independently tested, not named by the operator.

Zapier MCP

Best for: the widest tool coverage immediately, if you can accept beta-stage rough edges.

What it does: exposes Zapier's long-standing integration library to AI assistants over MCP, so an assistant can trigger actions across thousands of applications rather than one vendor's API.

Verify: the MCP offering has been in beta — confirm availability, per-action limits and pricing at your call volume. Zapier is bootstrapped and private; the widely repeated $5B figure comes from a 2021 secondary sale and is not a current valuation.

Arcade.dev

Best for: teams where the AI must act as a specific user with that user's own permissions, not through a shared service account.

What it does: a tool-calling and authorization platform for AI agents, focused on handling OAuth and permissions so agents can act inside third-party software as a particular person.

Verify: $60M Series A led by SYN Ventures announced June 2026 — a large round for the stage, which usually means a roadmap still in motion. Confirm which of your tools are supported today rather than planned.

Composio

Best for: operators or developers who want a managed catalogue of integrations with authentication handled centrally.

What it does: a hosted set of integrations and an auth layer connecting AI agents to business applications across productivity, CRM and developer tools.

Verify: $25M Series A led by Lightspeed announced July 2025. A circulating "$29M raised" figure is cumulative, not a second round. Confirm per-user authorization handling.

Paragon

Best for: software companies shipping connectors to their own customers, rather than end users assembling their own.

What it does: an embedded integration platform — the infrastructure a SaaS product buys to offer native integrations, now extended toward AI agent use cases.

Verify: last publicly announced round was $13M Series A led by Inspired Capital in August 2022, old enough that current scale, pricing and AI capabilities need direct confirmation.

Four things to check before you connect anything

  1. Read versus write. Connecting a marketing tool and connecting a bank account are different risk postures. A serious platform scopes them separately.
  2. Auditability. Can you see what the assistant read and what it changed, per connection?
  3. Whether it stays connected. Medhora's standard is "just always available" — not a per-session setup.
  4. Whether the vendor wants this to work. Medhora names the problem himself: "for some pieces of software, that might negate their purpose." A connector that makes the connected product optional may not be maintained enthusiastically.
