Every AI-native CRM in this category could store the fact that a family drinks a particular wine. None of them has a clear path to learning it, because that detail is generated on a boat, over a week, by a crew. Jennifer Kerum, co-founder of Anchor Croatia, named that record as the single AI tool that would most change her job. Four of six Season 1 operators asked for a version of the same thing.

## What did the operator ask for?

Comprehensive client profiles built from what happened during delivery, not from the pipeline. Asked which AI tool would change her job most, Kerum answered on the back end rather than the client-facing side:

> "A client comes on board and they spend a week with me. I really want to get really personal about what wine they're drinking, where they visited, their kids' birthdays. And I would love to have it where it's a really easy way to organize that information on the back end."

She is explicit that the category already exists and stops short:

> "You do have basic programs that do that right now. But not to the extent that I would like to have it."

And what she means by extent:

> "To have more comprehensive client profiles — they go on a boat and just remembering the fact that they went to all of these locations on the boats, they drank this wine, so something like that. So on their next charter, to really integrate that."

## Why is capture the binding constraint rather than storage?

Because every product in the category builds itself from email, calendar and meetings — which is to say, from the communications of knowledge workers. That is a reasonable bet, because knowledge workers are the large market. But the detail Kerum wants is not generated in a meeting. It is generated on a boat, by a crew, and it reaches the office as a message, a mention in conversation, or not at all.

Any of these systems could hold a note about a family's preferred wine, the bay they loved and a child's birthday. None has a path to learning it in the first place. Solving this means ingesting from the delivery layer — the people actually with the client — and no CRM is built to do that, because CRMs assume the person with the relationship is also the person at the keyboard.

## How well funded is the category already?

Well enough that nobody should enter it by building the same thing again. [Attio](https://attio.com/?ref=intelligence.artificialrealitymedia.com) has raised $85M in total, [Day.ai](https://www.day.ai/?ref=intelligence.artificialrealitymedia.com) a $20M Series A from [Sequoia](https://www.sequoiacap.com/?ref=intelligence.artificialrealitymedia.com), Mesh, formerly Clay, an $8M Series A from Sequoia and General Catalyst. [Lightfield](https://lightfield.app/?ref=intelligence.artificialrealitymedia.com) is backed by [Lightspeed](https://lsvp.com/?ref=intelligence.artificialrealitymedia.com) and folk by Accel. Artificial Reality, the AI buyer-evidence podcast hosted by Galina Fendikevich, has published a fuller guide to the memory layer; the point here is narrower. All five are horizontal, and none models a charter, a vessel or a crew.

## How often does this request come up?

Four of six Season 1 operators, across four industries — yacht charter, hospitality, restaurants and M&A advisory. A fifth, adjacent version came up in public relations, where the operator agreed with the framing rather than volunteering it.

Those industries have nothing in common except that their product is a relationship. That is not a vertical opportunity. It is a horizontal one that every horizontal player is currently missing, because they are all building for the sales team rather than for the people who deliver the service.

## What would the product have to do?

Four requirements come from the operator, three from Artificial Reality:

- Capture experience-level detail — wine, locations visited, family milestones, preferences — not transaction history *(operator)*
- Go meaningfully further than the basic client-profile software already available *(operator)*
- Be easy to organize, in her words "a really easy way to organize that information on the back end" *(operator)*
- Surface the right details on the next booking, so the memory produces a better charter rather than a fuller database *(operator)*
- Ingest from crew reports, WhatsApp messages, broker notes and email rather than requiring structured entry *(Artificial Reality)*
- Work for a small team without an administrator, since nobody in a ten-person brokerage is going to maintain records manually *(Artificial Reality)*
- Keep the data portable and owned by the business, because this record becomes the most valuable asset the company has *(Artificial Reality)*

## What should a builder do with this?

Pick the capture surface before the data model. These operators are not asking for a CRM — they have one. They are asking for something that remembers what happened, and those turn out to be different products.

Build the ingestion path from the delivery layer, where the crew and the front-of-house staff are, and the storage question mostly answers itself. Build another self-updating record from email and calendar and you have joined a queue of at least five funded companies serving a market that is already served.
